We are looking for a proficient Floor Planning Manager to join our Space & Floor Relex Project Team. The Floor Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing a team of Floor Planning analysts / specialists that create compelling store layouts grounded in the best and most current macro-space principles and compliant with company- and store-related micro-space requirements. This role involves collaborating with Category Management, Merchandising, Facilities and Operations teams to design floor plans and guide the shopper through the store in a logical and pleasurable manner while contributing to our business goal. Finally, to thrive in the role, the retail Floor Planning Manager should be passionate about spending time in-stores to experience macro space planning, truly understand the marketplace, and see their team’s work come to life.
What You Will Do
Here are just a few ways that you’ll help make journeys better:
- Leads and manages Floor Planning analyst / Specialist team, overseeing its work creating floorplans, adding micro space elements and related materials
- Acting as space management software expert / power user, having the ability to train people and lean in and execute and elevate the team’s floor planning work as needed
- Ensuring function / team’s work is tied to corporate and store strategy as well as industry best practices for macro space and merchandising
- Leading and executing department space projects end-to-end, including department presentations and pre- and post-project analysis
- Advising upper-management and leadership on space productivity results and provide data-driven recommendations and insights leading to improved sales, margin and productivity
- Understanding the Category Strategies and key initiatives, to convert them into actionable placement in floor plans.
- Partnering with Field Operations to collaborate upfront on floor plan changes or enhancements and solicit feedback on floor plan execution
- Bringing forth promising ideas, with clear path to execution keeping in mind available resources, time for completion, and ROI
- Working cross-functionally across organization: a collaborator who brings people together, lending insights to and developing relationships with Category management, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, and other related teams
- Oversees maintenance of space planning resource library/repository by team
- Gains local insights through direct retail field experience to complement other data/analytics to create truly differentiated customized local floor plans
- Acts as seamless, eager, and trusted member of cross-functional team both at local store and HQ levels to ensure execution of plans and company strategic goals
- Naturally curious and continually working to improve existing processes
What You Need
We want you to join our team! Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is preferred. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- 3 years of experience in a supervisory role, managing, coaching and developing people.
- At least 5-7 years of work experience in retail floor planning or related field (store operations, retail merchandising, category management, etc.)
- At least two years of experience with a floor- and/or space-planning tool such as JDA/Blue Yonder, RELEX, Apollo, Spaceman, 3DVR, or another related, commonly used technology
- Has strong project management and time management capabilities
- AutoCAD / drafting experience
- Power BI / analytics software experience
- Has familiarity with syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI, SPINS, etc.) and digital category management tools
- Possesses analytical and problem-solving skills
- Contributes seamlessly to cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, deadline-orientated environment
- Willingness for travel (10-20%) to local markets/stores but is comfortable in a hybrid environment (in store, on-site and virtual)
- Excellent communicator, with strong ability to synthesize and simplify complex ideas into compelling presentations
- BlueYonder / RELEX space-planning certification
- Is proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, etc.)
