Job Summary:
The Inpatient Nurse Practitioner will play a critical role in delivering comprehensive psychiatric care to children and adolescents admitted to our inpatient unit. The NP will collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and treat young patients with psychiatric disorders. Responsibilities:
- Monday to Friday (8:00 am – 4:00 pm or 9:00 am – 5:00 pm) with possible on-call duties
- Work in an inpatient setting, with patient volume varying based on census
- Utilize evidence-based approaches to treat conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and other psychiatric concerns in youth
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and best practices within the organization
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, mental health assessments, and physical examinations for child and adolescent patients
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, ensuring appropriate monitoring and adjustments as needed
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services in an inpatient setting.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and community resources to support patient recovery and discharge planning
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with facility policies and regulatory standards in the EMR system (Credible)
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and staff development activities
- Stay updated with current psychiatric best practices, research, and continuing education relevant to child and adolescent mental health care.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing with a focus on Psychiatry/Mental Health.
- Licensure: Active Nurse Practitioner license in Florida and board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP); DEA license preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in child and adolescent psychiatric care (inpatient experience preferred).
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, excellent communication and collaboration abilities, and proficiency in electronic health records (EHR).
