Purchasing Supervisor
Location: Corona, CA
Reports to: Sr. Supply Chain Manager
Business Unit: Aerospace & Defense
Position Summary
The Purchasing Supervisor will lead, coordinate, and manage the purchasing process for CIRCOR Aerospace in Corona, CA. This individual contributor role provides strategic leadership, mentoring, and support to the Purchasing team while collaborating closely with Sourcing, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Planning to ensure on-time availability of parts for customer shipments.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Process Management
- Oversee all purchasing activities, ensuring compliance with AS9100 Quality Management Systems and making updates as needed to align with business goals.
- Manage and monitor purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in pricing and delivery schedules.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying root causes of material delays and implementing corrective actions.
- Optimize purchasing processes through system enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure material availability for revenue planning and work order on-time starts.
Performance & Financial Accountability
- Monitor and report on key purchasing metrics, including:
- Work Order On-Time to Start (Material Availability)
- Supplier On-Time Delivery
- Buyer Performance and Exception Messages
- Support month-end financial reporting related to purchasing and supply chain functions.
Supplier & Team Leadership
- Assess vendor performance and coordinate with Supplier Quality to address corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with the Sourcing/Commodity team on cost-saving initiatives and provide feedback on supplier challenges.
- Mentor and develop purchasing personnel, fostering a culture of continuous learning and process improvement.
Qualifications & Requirements
Skills & Competencies
- Strong MRP and ERP system experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP)
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret trends and drive data-driven decisions
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Customer-focused mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Project management experience
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (preferred) or equivalent experience in purchasing
- Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing within an ERP-driven environment
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification (preferred)
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $100,000 - $122,000 per year
Compensation may vary based on location, experience, skills, and other factors.
