POSITION DETAILS
Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified Quality Supervisor to lead and manage the daily activities of our inspection and quality technician team in a manufacturing environment. As the Quality Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring production efficiencies, maintaining product quality, and meeting the production schedule. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the inspection and quality team, setting priorities in coordination with Planning and Manufacturing, and providing essential metrics for throughput, first pass yield, and other relevant measures. Additionally, you will be responsible for training employees in production inspection fundamentals and cross-training them in various facets of the inspection process.
Principal Activities
- Manage employees’ daily activities.
- Ensure the inspection team meets the priority schedule.
- Manage employees’ hours and schedule overtime as required.
- Be familiar with stakeholder needs (i.e. customer contracts, regulations, requirements) to assure that Quality requirements are built into the production process.
- Interpret applicable ASTM, Military, DFARS and FAR specifications and other drawings to assure
- Develop, implement, and improve Quality plans (ie inspection steps, tools, data required, sampling plans) including FAIRS, FAT/IAT, hold points, source inspection points Perform Material certification reviews to assure supplied products meet material specs, drawings, and contract requirements. This may include RT.
- Inspect product to ensure contract and drawing requirements are met.
- Manage Nonconforming Material - Champion the MRB/SIR process with Quality Manager Oversight to assure issues are addressed in a timely manner and implement corrective action to prevent recurrence.
- Prepare and respond to customer escapes and corrective action requests (CAR). This includes preparing reports such as VIRS, VPARS, LOAs, and customer RCCA responses.
- Work with manufacturing to ensure product quality is achieved and maintained. Mentor. Answer inspector questions regarding requirements. Assure people are qualified to their roles (NDT, Weld, RT sign offs supervisors, alternates, etc.).
- Support Government and Customer source inspection.
- Maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a safe and orderly condition.
- Set goals and manage employee performance.
Job Requirements:
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- ASQ Quality Engineer Certification preferred.
- Machining and blueprint interpretation skills are a must.
Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 GD&T. - Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt preferred.
- Relevant experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to perform multi-faceted projects in rapidly changing environment.
- Knowledge of Defense Industry and prior experience with DOD Contractor a plus.
- Must be able to meet tight deadlines, be detail oriented and highly organized.
- Experience with standards such as AS9100, ISO14001, ISO9001.
- NDT – RT, PT, VT ,AWS welding requirements and inspection experience preferred.
- Microsoft 365 advanced experience.
Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint, Power BI, SharePoint, TEAMS - Must be a US Citizen to meet US Defense requirements and must be able to obtain a DOD clearance.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or a technical field required. Requires 5 years of experience in quality engineering, including audit, in-depth understanding of quality concepts and principles.
