What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Courtroom Support Services position at Circuit Court for Prince George's County?
The Office of Courtroom Support Services Director is directly responsible for the efficient operations of courtroom management technological recordings for the official record, business operations in accordance with the court’s strategic vision, and involvement in various leadership initiatives.
Duties include but are not limited to:- Oversee staff to include administrative support, court reporters, and court technologists.
- Develop and implement policies to ensure accurate and timely reporting of court proceedings.
- Ensure all procedures comply with the Maryland Law and Court Rules.
- Manage hiring, training, and work performance of staff.
- Maintain accurate records and oversee the management of court transcripts.
- Stay abreast of advanced technologies and make recommendations to leadership for consideration.
- Implement advanced technologies to enhance court recordings/reporting.
- Collaborate with judges, attorneys, and court personnel to address courtroom recording/reporting needs.
- Work in partnership with the Office of Courtroom Services Deputy to draft policies and procedures based on evaluation of work process and changes in state law, regulation, and local court rules; evaluate legislative and administrative proposals for changes in court reporting services and make recommendations to Court Administration.
- Ensures that court reporters send transcription companies to meet the established standards of the court for accuracy of the record, format, and timeliness of transcripts.
- Participates in court management meetings (statewide and in-house) and makes recommendations.
- Assists with the preparation of budget submissions, including modifications and alternative considerations.
- Oversee permanent paper and electronic records to be maintained in the file room and warehouse.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in court reporting, legal studies, criminal justice, public administration, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have 5-10 years of progressive supervisory experience.
PREFERRED: Completion of the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) approved court reporting program. At least four years of court report experience (to include courts).
Salary : $110,000 - $135,000
