What is this role?
As a Sr. Director of Quality Engineering for Cirkul, you will oversee a wide range of disciplines within the Cirkul Organization along with building the organization to meet our growing needs. Quality Engineering encompasses Supplier Quality for food and plastic components, Quality Engineering, Reliability Engineering (Boston), and Incoming Inspection. The role of the Sr. Director will be to empower individual leaders and contributors, while establishing KPI’s for each group. Additionally the Sr. Director will work to establish and champion processes that meet the growing needs of Cirkul as a business (QMS, PLM, supplier score carding, etc.)
What does an average day look like?
- Driving Results: Establish key processes and metrics that will ensure Cirkul is producing good products, communicating with suppliers clearly and proactively, and making informed decisions when it comes to purchasing and producing parts. Develop and hire the team to achieve those results.
- Taking Ownership: Roll out platforms and processes that fit the Cirkul business and allow us to scale. Establish a great team to help us achieve our goals.
- Making Decisions: Understand what “good enough” means for the business while managing risk.
- Cultivating Relationships: Work with outside vendors in a proactive manner to ensure we are purchasing the best product both domestically and internationally. Work closely with our manufacturing team to qualify equipment and new parts. Work closely with our Supply Chain team to establish and monitor our AVL.
- Instilling Trust: Be a leader for a wide variety of teams inside and outside of the engineering organization. Help people understand the value of quality, and empower people in and out of the engineering team with the tools and methods that ensure good quality.
- Customer Focus: Be a champion for quality and make it everyone else’s mission as well.
What background should you have?
- 8 years of Quality Engineering experience, preferably with high volume consumer products.
- 5 years of management experience.
- Familiar with consumer products, preferably in a regulated setting.
- Familiar with working with 3rd party contract manufactures both domestically and in the far east.
- Strong understanding of statistical methods for collecting and analyzing manufacturing data.
- Strong understanding of test methods do determine product performance for new and existing products.
- Strong understanding of injection molded plastic parts (Metrology, Food safety compliance, assembly methods).
- Great people and communication skills. Able to communicate complex ideas to non-technical staff and be a champion of quality and best practices.
