Location: Nassau County
Overview: The Delivery Driver's primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe, efficient and timely delivery of packages to retail stores.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform daily pre-trip safety inspections on all equipment.
- Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
- Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch as required, including but not limited to: delays, arrivals and equipment problems.
- Communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs.
- Demonstrate superior internal and external customer service.
- Know how to use GPS.
- Must be action orientated with excellent listening skills.
- Must possess excellent time management skills, exhibit patience with a strong customer focus at all times and in a professional manner.
- Required to operate delivery truck and comply with all safety regulations and all applicable laws.
- Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
- Able to meet deadlines.
- Must maintain satisfactory attendance with dependability and consistency.
- Other duties as assigned.
Technical and Functional
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, manage and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to meet and/or exceed the established customer service objectives.
- Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
Required Physical Abilities
- Position requires the ability to sit and drive for up to 6 hours; lifting and carrying
- Packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; and reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting. Also requires the ability to see; hear; and communicate by utilizing professional etiquette with all levels of associates and with external vendors.
- High stress tolerance, adaptable, ability to work in an ever-changing environment, flexible.
Pre-Delivery
- Check the delivery schedule and make sure you are familiar with the route.
- Understand all necessary paperwork, including the delivery manifest & invoice, customer contact information, and any special instructions.
- Prepare the delivery vehicle, making sure it is clean and well-stocked with supplies.
- Call the customer to confirm the delivery time and address.
During Delivery
- Be on time for the delivery.
- Be professional and courteous to the customer.
- Carefully inspect the product to make sure it is in good condition.
- Sign the delivery manifest & invoice and have the customer sign it as well.
Answer any basic questions the customer may have about the product.
Post-Delivery
- Complete any necessary paperwork, such as a delivery report.
- Upload the paperwork in the appropriate location.
- Follow up with the customer to make sure they are satisfied with the delivery.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D minimum.
- Must be a minimum of 25 years of age.
- Requires a minimum of 1 year of delivery driving experience (van or similar) within the past three years.
- Must possess and maintain a clean driving record and valid NYS License.
- Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
- Must be an effective communicator with excellent attention to detail.
- Must possess a strong work ethic.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Ability to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) such as hair net, earplugs, beard net (if applicable), protective gloves, safety harness, safety glasses and slip resistant work shoes/boots. Personal protective equipment, as defined by Cirona Labs, will be provided.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, team environment.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand basic math percentages and formulas.
- Work may involve daily exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures (hot and cold), humidity, darkness, and noise.
- Able to drive during early and late hours and in adverse conditions.
