Number of Workdays: 239 days from July 1 - June 30
Salary: Commensurate with experience
This position reports to the Director of Finance.

Summary Description of Classification:
Maintains a complete and systematic set of records providing needed financial information as required by local,state, and federal regulations.

Education, Training and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting, business administration or a closely related field is required. CPA is highly desired.
2. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the field of accounting is required.
3. Governmental accounting work experience is desired; experience in school system setting is desired.
Must have experience working with computerized accounting programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Directs, supervises and assists with the accounts payable operations under established Board policies and procedures; determines work procedures and expedites workflow; reviews procedures regularly and initiates changes when necessary to provide more efficient operations.
2. Maintain thorough knowledge of accounting policies and procedures.
3. Monitor expenditures against approved budget prior to requisitions being converted to purchase order.
4. Notification to schools and departments when requisition or request for payment would result in a budget line item to be exceeded.
5. Ensure that district budget is properly uploaded into the financial software.
6. Ensure that the district budget remains in balance with the approved budget with each amendment that is entered.
7. Maintains files and records of open contracts, including service, rental and consultative services contracts; matches payment requests with contracts and prepares for payment.
8. Run all month end payroll reports regarding workers compensation, insurance, teacher's retirement, and other monthly payroll distributions, and payroll deductions.
9. Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports and statements.
10. Balance health insurance deductions and submit to Director of Finance for payment.
11. Perform month-end and year-end closeouts of books.
12. Run and distribute all month-end budget status reports.
13. Meet with Directors and Administrators as required to report on status of budget versus actual expenditures.
14. Monitor and report on all Capital Project expenditures including all ESPLOST and bond accounts.
15. Prepare and remit GaDOE CS1 annual report.
16. Provide information to Director of Finance in the form of regular reports and special reports as requested.
17. Maintain fixed asset records.
18. Prepare reports for auditors as required.
19. Keep Director of Finance aware of cash balances daily.
20. Performs duties of Director of Finance in his/her absence.
