Job Summary
Cirrus Aircraft is currently hiring an Aircraft Systems Engineer I focused on Pneumatic Systems. An engineer in this role is responsible for design, development, integration, and certification of aircraft systems including Bleed Air, Oxygen, Environmental, Pressurization, and Ice Protection on both the SR and SF platforms as well as new projects. Candidates will also be responsible for coordinating development and system integration work with subcontractors and external suppliers.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Interface with other aircraft disciplines, including structural and electrical disciplines, across the Cirrus Aircraft platform
- Work with a multi-discipline team on pneumatic system design development.
- Perform heat transfer analysis and fluid flow analysis with respect to pneumatic system architectures and expected performance.
- Perform on-aircraft and lab/bench testing of pneumatic systems and system components to validate performance and to support certification requirements.
- Active involvement in development and certification of aircraft systems under FAR Part 23 or Part 25.
- Research industry guidance documents for best practices, e.g. SAE.
- Create 3D models and drawings of pneumatics systems in Creo.
- Author and check documents including test plans and reports, certification reports, and other engineering documents.
- Perform trade studies involving weight, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills on technical issues and have a high level of initiative to fill gaps when necessary.

Required Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering.
- 0-2 years’ experience in pneumatics systems is desirable but not required.
Demonstrated Proficiencies/Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language
- Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
- Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team
- Ability to efficiently learn new skills and manage multiple tasks
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
- Performing cost and weight studies for alternative design concepts
