Data Architect

Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of robust data architectures, ensuring our data is organized, accessible, secure, and aligned with business objectives. In this role, you'll define data strategy, build and optimize databases, data warehouses, and data lakes, and oversee data integration and quality processes to support critical business initiatives. Your expertise in data modeling, ETL pipeline development, and cloud-based data platforms will be instrumental in delivering scalable data solutions and driving innovation in how our organization leverages data.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Strategy & Integration: Interpret and deliver impactful strategic plans to improve data integration, data quality, and data delivery in support of business initiatives and roadmaps.
- Data Systems Design: Design the structure and layout of data systems, including databases, data warehouses, and data lakes, to meet organizational needs.
- Database Management: Select and implement database management systems that best fit the organization’s requirements by defining data schemas, optimizing data storage, and establishing data access controls and security measures.
- Technology Roadmaps: Define and implement long-term technology strategies and innovation roadmaps across analytics, data engineering, and data platform domains.
- ETL Processes: Design and implement efficient ETL processes to integrate data from various source systems into centralized data repositories.
- Data Modeling: Translate high-level business requirements into logical and physical data models, along with appropriate metadata, test data, and data quality standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Manage and collaborate with senior business stakeholders to ensure project delivery aligns with longer-term strategic data roadmaps and objectives.
- Architecture Optimization: Simplify and optimize the existing data architecture, delivering reusable services and cost-saving opportunities in line with company policies and standards.
- Quality Assurance: Lead peer reviews and quality assurance of data architecture artifacts through governance forums, maintaining high standards for data solutions.
- Data Governance: Define and enforce standards, guidelines, and processes to ensure data quality and consistency across the organization.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams, business analysts, and data analytics teams to understand data consumer needs and develop effective data solutions.
- Innovation & Evaluation: Continuously evaluate and recommend emerging technologies for data management, storage, and analytics to enhance our data infrastructure and capabilities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles, including designing and implementing data models and data warehouses for enterprise initiatives.
- Data Expertise: Proven expertise in data modeling, data warehousing, ETL pipeline development, and data integration in complex, enterprise environments.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency with modern data platforms and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), big data frameworks (Hadoop, Spark/Kafka), and data warehousing solutions (Snowflake, Databricks).
- Programming & Tools: Proficient in programming and query languages such as Python, Java, SQL (and/or R), with a solid understanding of data analysis tools and techniques.
- Data Quality & Governance: Familiarity with data governance practices, metadata management, and data quality tools/techniques to ensure reliable and secure data assets.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) – Industry-recognized data management certification.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate – Validating expertise in Azure data services and pipelines.
- Google Cloud Certified – Professional Data Engineer – Demonstrating ability to design and manage GCP data solutions.
- AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty – Highlighting advanced knowledge in AWS data lakes and analytics services.
- Snowflake SnowPro Certification – Recognizing proficiency in Snowflake cloud data warehousing.
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer – Validating skills in building and maintaining data pipelines on Databricks.
