Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to take on a hybrid role that combines Project Management and IT Operations leadership. In this role, you will lead strategic IT infrastructure projects (such as cloud migrations and technology refreshes) while overseeing day-to-day IT operations (network, systems, and cybersecurity). This dual responsibility ensures that our projects are executed smoothly and that our operational environment runs reliably, delivering seamless IT services to our clients. Your strong technical background in networking, Windows Server environments (Active Directory / Exchange), cloud platforms (Azure / AWS), and / or cybersecurity will be crucial for understanding project details and tackling operational challenges. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence both long-term initiatives and ongoing operations, reporting directly to the CEO for high visibility and impact. Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management (Infrastructure Projects)
- Lead IT Infrastructure Projects : Plan, scope, and execute IT projects such as cloud migrations , domain migrations , network technology refreshes , and software deployments from initiation to completion. Ensure each project meets defined scope, timeline, and budget.
- Project Planning & Delivery : Define project deliverables, create detailed work plans, and manage resources effectively. Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, cybersecurity, etc.) and third-party vendors to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
- Stakeholder Communication : Serve as the primary point of contact for project status, risks, and issues. Provide regular updates and reports to stakeholders and executive leadership (CEO) , ensuring transparency and alignment with business objectives.
- Risk & Issue Management : Proactively identify potential project risks or roadblocks (technical or logistical) and develop mitigation plans. Resolve issues quickly to keep projects on track, and conduct post-project evaluations to capture lessons learned.
- Quality Assurance : Ensure that all project deliverables meet quality standards and that new systems or upgrades are thoroughly tested before full deployment. Work with operations teams to transition completed projects into steady-state support seamlessly.
IT Operations (Network, Systems & Cybersecurity)
Oversee Daily IT Operations : Manage the day-to-day operations of network infrastructure (LAN / WAN, routers, switches, VPNs, firewalls), Windows servers (Active Directory, Exchange, etc.), and cloud environments (Azure / AWS). Monitor system performance, uptime, and capacity to ensure high availability of services.Network & Systems Management : Proactively monitor network performance and server health, addressing any issues in routing, connectivity, or system errors. Coordinate maintenance activities such as patches, upgrades, and backups across all systems to minimize downtime and maintain reliability.Cybersecurity Operations : Implement and enforce cybersecurity best practices and policies. Oversee security operations including vulnerability management, intrusion detection, antivirus / endpoint protection, and incident response. Quickly respond to security incidents or alerts and coordinate remediation to protect company and client data.Incident & Problem Resolution : Lead the response to critical incidents or outages across network, server, or cloud systems. Conduct root cause analysis after restoration to identify preventive measures. Establish incident response plans and ensure 24 / 7 operational coverage (on-call procedures) for prompt issue resolution.Operational Improvement : Continuously evaluate and improve IT operational processes (monitoring, backup recovery, user account management, etc.) to increase efficiency and reliability. Ensure documentation (network diagrams, SOPs, runbooks) is maintained for all operational systems.Integration of Projects & Operations : Align project initiatives with operational needs to ensure new solutions are supportable and sustainable. Leverage insights from daily operations to inform future project plans, and ensure smooth hand-off of projects into ongoing operations for seamless service delivery .Required Qualifications & Skills
Technical Expertise : Strong technical background in one or more of the following domains is required :Networking – experience with network infrastructure (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs) and network operations.
Windows Server Environments – hands-on knowledge of Windows Server administration, Active Directory , Exchange , and related systems.Cloud Platforms – familiarity with Azure and / or AWS services, deployments, and management (cloud infrastructure, virtualization, storage, etc.).Cybersecurity – understanding of security principles and experience with cybersecurity operations (threat monitoring, incident response, security tools).This expertise is crucial for effectively managing technical projects and addressing operational challenges in real-time.
Project Management Experience : 5 years of experience leading IT projects (preferably infrastructure or cloud-focused). Proven ability to manage projects through the full project lifecycle – from requirements gathering and planning to deployment and post-implementation support.Operations Experience : Experience managing or working in IT operations (network / sysadmin or security operations). Comfortable overseeing complex IT environments and coordinating day-to-day operational tasks alongside project work.Education : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).Certifications : Project Management Professional ( PMP ), ITIL, or relevant technical certifications are a plus (e.g., CCNA / CCNP for networking, Microsoft Certified for Windows, AWS / Azure certifications, CISSP for security). These demonstrate a commitment to excellence in project and operations management.Methodologies & Tools : Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile / Scrum and Waterfall) and tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Trello). Knowledge of ITIL practices for IT service management is beneficial for aligning operations with industry best practices.Soft Skills : Excellent leadership and team coordination skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot complex issues. Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal) for effective stakeholder engagement and reporting to executive leadership. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.Compensation & Benefits
