Job Summary
Our Procurement and Supply Chain team strives to deliver maximum value and a competitive advantage for CITGO. We achieve this by providing non-hydrocarbon goods and services to CITGO at the lowest total cost of ownership, using best-in-class strategies with the highest levels of safety, integrity and partnership with operations management. Each member of the Procurement and Supply Chain team plays an important role in contributing to CITGO’s success.
As a Procurement & Supply Chain Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience tackling real-world challenges, learning best-in-class strategies, and contributing to the optimization of our supply chain processes. You will get exposed to different aspects of sourcing, contract negotiation, analytics, inventory management and supplier relations. The level of exposure to each of these will vary based on the project(s) you are assigned, which will vary for each intern. Your projects will directly impact how we optimize supply chain processes and help CITGO maintain its competitive edge.
Throughout your internship, you’ll receive mentorship and guidance from industry experts and participate in a variety of activities designed to enhance your learning experience – including visits to the field and opportunities to interact with senior management. By the end of your internship, you’ll present to leadership to showcase your project outcomes, skills and knowledge you’ve developed and other elements of your internship experience at CITGO. The standard length of our internships varies from 9 to 14 weeks based on the project and your availability.

Minimum Qualifications
Requirements
Current college level of Junior, Senior or Graduate Student
Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Supply Chain Management or other Business Major, Mechanical Engineer or other Engineering Major, Industrial Distribution, Economics or other related discipline
Expected Graduation date : Fall 2025 through Fall 2026
Available to start mid to late May 2025
Must have legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis without restrictions from their current employer or educational institution
A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Willing to work in each of these locations : Houston, TX, Corpus Christi, TX, Lake Charles, LA or Lemont, IL
Analytically minded with deep understanding of spreadsheets and a bias for action
Self-starter with the ability to deliver effective solutions using available resources and information

Develops strong relationships and actively looks for opportunities to collaborate across teams to solve problems
Job Duties
Assist in sourcing and contracting by conducting market research, supporting bidding, bid evaluations, and participating in negotiations
Develop or update cost models by identifying key cost drivers within specific categories of spending.
Leverage financial statements, market research, and public reports to evaluate supplier performance and assess market conditions
Engage with suppliers to monitor performance and contribute to contract assurance efforts
Create dashboards and reports to provide insights into supplier performance, contract spend, and potential areas of improvement
Analyze internal spending trends and market data to identify opportunities for cost savings and value creation
Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to streamline Procurement & Supply Chain processes and improve related system operations
Support contract management by analyzing data such as contract spending, price history, and contract compliance
- Evaluate material management processes to identify areas for improvement and develop solution
