What are the responsibilities and job description for the CHILDREN'S RESPITE CARE PROVIDER position at Citizen Advocates, Inc.?
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The hourly respite provider brings the child into the community to engage in various activities that may encourage socialization, safe one-on-one interactions, physical activity, and intellectual stimulation. This respite is to provide the child and family to get a break from whatever stressors there are at home. The hourly respite provider creates a schedule with the family and seeks manager approval. The provider is responsible for completing notes and timesheets for each respite contact. This is a direct care service to the child.
Essential Functions (Job Duties)
- Create relationship with participants family and discuss activities and times.
- Collaborate with family for effective scheduling.
- Collaborate with family for effective goal setting.
- Reporting to manager any emergencies or concerns.
- Engage the child in activities out in the community that support the childs needs and goals to work on. This may include YMCA, Library, Parks, etc.
- Submit documentation as required
- Submit weekly timesheets and notes to the Manager
- Follow all federal and state confidentiality laws re: HIPSSA AND CFR42.
- Maintain transportation. Keeping insurance and registration updated through the respite coordinator.
- Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with all NSBHS and outside agency staff.
- Utilize communication, listening and interpersonal skills to provide safe space for child.
- Adhering to all agency policies and procedures
- Complete all annual training. Report to Childrens Respite Coordinator for all supervision and professional development needs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a relief position.
Workweek schedule: As needed
Hours of work: As determined with family.
Hours and schedules may vary depending on Company need and workload. Employees will be given as much advance notice as possible when such changes occur.
Travel
Travel is required to pick up child and to take children to activities as well as to take them home after respite hours are complete. Mileage is reimbursed for any travel incurred while on shift.
Required Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED required. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have a valid NYS drivers license and clean driving record with reliable transportation.
