What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Support position at Citizen Advocates, Inc.?
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Student Support Provider is required to complete all training and background checks before starting work. This position is responsible for maintaining a client caseload in which they identify goals and objectives to help improve emotional, social, and daily functioning. This position will be based in one of the following (3) school districts as part of a System of Care Grant through SAMHSA ; Saranac Lake Central School and Chateaugay Central School. This position will be on site of each of these school districts and will be providing supervision to the child if they need to go to either outpatient clinic. While this position is in the above schools, this employee is a Citizen Advocates employee and will maintain either full time or part time hours as well as providing services to the Malone or Saranac Lake outpatient clinics during the school holidays, breaks and summer vacation.
Essential Functions (Job Duties)
- Work with targeted children in a school setting alongside the School Based Mental Health Counselor/Social Worker.
- Accompany and supervise child if child needs to attend either the Malone or Saranac Lake outpatient clinics after school hours.
- Attend weekly staff meetings, treatment teams and supervision.
- Empower clients and encourage clients choice in matters affecting them, demonstrating receptive attitudes and sensitivity to choices based on racial, cultural and ethnic heritage and sexual orientation.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position may either be a full time or part time position based on the needs of the school(s) in partnership.
Workweek schedule: During school hours or after hours as needed
Hours of work: As determined by client and family
Hours and schedules may vary depending on Company need and workload. Employees will be given as much advance notice as possible when such changes occur.
Travel
Travel may be required and mileage is reimbursed for any travel incurred while on shift.
Required Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED required. Complete criminal history background checks and be cleared by the state central registry. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have a valid NYS drivers license and clean driving record with reliable transportation of 3 years.
