The Role

We're seeking a Senior Front-End Engineer to work on the development of our patient, partner, and internal-facing web applications. This role is crucial in creating intuitive, efficient, and responsive user interfaces that will directly impact our users' experience and our platform's success.

As a key part of our front-end team, you will build high-performance, scalable, and accessible user interfaces that serve diverse user groups including rare disease patients, healthcare providers, researchers, and our internal teams.

Your work will be at the heart of our mission, translating complex health data and research findings into user-friendly interfaces that empower patients, facilitate groundbreaking research, and streamline our internal operations.

Responsibilities

• Implement high-performance, scalable front-end solutions using modern web technologies
• Lead the design and development of reusable UI components and libraries to ensure consistency across our platform
• Optimize application performance, focusing on load time, responsiveness, and efficient resource usage, particularly crucial for our data-intensive healthcare applications
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate wireframes and mockups into responsive, interactive features that meet the needs of rare disease patients, healthcare providers, and researchers
• Implement and maintain robust front-end testing strategies, including unit tests and end-to-end tests, to ensure the reliability of our critical health-related applications
• Stay current with front-end best practices, emerging technologies, and industry trends, particularly those relevant to healthcare and scientific research applications
• Work closely with back-end engineering teams to integrate front-end applications with APIs and services, ensuring seamless data flow and functionality

Must - Have Skills

• 7 years of experience in front-end development, with a focus on complex single-page applications (SPAs) and a proven track record of launching consumer-facing products
• Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and modern CSS (including CSS-in-JS solutions)
• Strong understanding of web performance optimization techniques, scalability, and security
• Experience with front-end testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress)

Preferred Skills

• Experience with state management solutions (e.g., Redux, MobX, or Recoil)
• Familiarity with modern build tools, module bundlers, and CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of responsive design principles and cross-browser compatibility
• Proven track record of high-quality coding and architectural design

California Base Pay Range: $200,000 - $235,000

This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. This position is eligible for stock options and other benefits including but not limited to Medical, Dental, Vision insurance. We also offer unlimited PTO and a paid new parent leave program so you can spend time with your new child.
