JOB TITLE: Eye Care Technician
ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Health Services
Department: Medical Clinic
SUPERVISOR: Clinic Operations Manager
FLSA: Non-exempt
SALARY RANGE: $13.78 - $23.10
ALL FULL TIME POSITIONS: In addition to your pay, your salary also includes Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance. The Biweekly deduction from employee paycheck is $40.00 for Employee Only, $95.00 Employee plus Children, $120.00 Employee plus Spouse, and $140.00 Employee plus family.
CPN Health Services personnel may be assigned to provide services to patients of all ages including but not limited to Indian Children and will require a criminal history background screening.
JOB SUMMARY: To assist the Ophthalmologist and/or Optometrist by conducting diagnostic tests, recording, and measuring vision, testing eye function, preparing examination rooms, and handling other tasks as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Accurately collect and document patient medical and ocular history in an electronic medical record.
· Perform and document a variety of diagnostic tests as directed by physician(s) to include Visual Acuity, Lensometry, Pupillary Assessment, Ocular Motility, Tonometry, Retinoscopy/Refractometry, Glare Testing, Topography, Color Vision, Amsler Grid, Stereopsis, Dry Eye Testing, Pachymetry, Confrontation Visual Field Testing, OCT, ASCAN and Automated Perimetry.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
· Perform other duties and projects as required to optimized clinic flow or as required by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Ability to communicate effectively and accurately with patients, providers, and others.
· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all patients encounters.
· Computer skills are needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
· Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant or closely related alternative (JCAHPO - COA, COT, or COMT)
· Experience in an Optometry or Ophthalmology clinic setting preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
· Some lifting, bending, stretching, and kneeling may be required.
· The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
· General clinical environment with frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens and patient body fluids.
