ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Child Development Center
SUPERVISOR: Donnette Littlehead
SALARY RANGE: $17.50-$21.00
FLSA: Non- Exempt
ALL FULL TIME POSITIONS: In addition to your pay, your salary also includes Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance. The Biweekly deduction from employee paycheck is $40.00 for Employee Only, $95.00 Employee plus Children, $120.00 Employee plus Spouse, and $140.00 Employee plus family.
JOB SUMMARY: Has the primary responsibility for the direct care of the children, and to assist children and providers in the childcare setting
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Performs all general nursing functions within the scope of practice.
· Make and answer calls in a professional manner.
· Notify parents by phone if children are running fever, vomiting, etc…
· Giving medication to children
· Storing medication
· Available to act as a witness in signing of consent forms and advance directives as needed.
· Clean and sterilize instruments as needed.
· Responsible for cleaning exam rooms, procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment.
· Provides staffing coverage in the event of call in or vacancy.
· Inventory and restock rooms as needed
· Coordinates with Director for supplies and equipment needs.
· Teaching the children in the classroom.
· Being on time and present each day as scheduled to work.
· Spend quality time in the classroom.
· Supervise assistant teachers in the classroom.
· Monthly reports due the first Monday of the following month
· Weekly activity sheets need to be posted every Monday
· Administers children’s medications.
· Responsible for keeping all immunization records.
· Orders center medications.
· Upkeep with the Center’s first aid kits.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Preform other duties and projects as required by management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
· Licensed in the State of Oklahoma as a Licensed Practical Nurse
· Experience in a clinical setting preferred
· Must have one of the following
- Child Development Associate
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent and 2 years of satisfactory full-time experience in a child care setting.
- Completed or will complete Tier II Training.
· Must pass adult and child OSBI background check.
· Must have CPR and First Aid certification.
· Must be able to complete 20 hours of Child Development training for a year.
· Must have a genuine love and concern for children.
· Must be creative and have an aptitude for teaching and promoting child development.
· Ability to stay calm in emergency situations.
· Must have an even temperament.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Ability to communicate effectively and accurately with parents, providers, and others.
· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all children encounters.
· Some computer skills are needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to sit and or stand for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping, and lifting.
· Occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds)
· The ability to work in a fast paced environment
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
· General clinical environment with frequent exposure to chemicals, blood borne pathogens, and patient body fluids.
· Normal classroom environment.
· Outside environment ( Hot and Cold)
