ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Health Services Department: Medical Clinic
SUPERVISOR: BH Coordinator
FLSA: Non- Exempt
SALARY RANGE: $14.42- $24.04
JOB SUMMARY: The Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) is responsible for providing peer support to clients working towards recovery from mental health or substance use disorders. Peer Supports Specialist work in collaboration with clinical staff by providing direct service care focused on strengthening recovery efforts through positive role modeling, mentoring, and motivation . Recovery Specialist demonstrate to peers that recovery is attainable by sharing their own recovery experiences and providing peer to peer support.
CPN Health Services personnel may be assigned to provide services to patients of all ages including but not limited to Indian Children and will require a criminal history background screening
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support peer’s recovery and personal life goals efforts
- Support peers in articulating, setting, and accomplishing personal goals
- Facilitate self-help and or support groups
- Serve as peer advocate and instill self-advocacy skills.
- Assist facilitation of peer recovery plan
- Understand complexities and uniqueness recovery process
- Respect cultural spiritual components of the recovery process.
- Teach and model the importance of self-care
- Provide peer advocacy in clinic staffing
- Provide mental health and substance abuse disorder education in individual and group settings
· Facilitates transportation related to treatment, recovery, and case management needs
· Identifies and facilitates referrals to community-based resources
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
· Perform other duties and projects as required by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Ability to maintain healthy boundaries within certification requirements
· Maintain positive relationships with recovery and community resources
· Flexible to support unique and individualized recovery choices of peers
· Maintain documentation as required
· Self-motivated
· Ability to communicate well with patients, providers, and other staff.
· Work within certification requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
- High school diploma or GED
- PRSS Certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· The ability to be seated or stand for prolonged periods of time.
· Repetitive work at a computer.
· Some lifting, bending, stretching, and kneeling may be required.
· The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
· Compliance with all immunization requirements to work in a healthcare setting.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
· Health facility office environment.
