CPN Health Services personnel may be assigned to provide services to patients of all ages including but not limited to Indian Children and will require a criminal history background screening.
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for digital film radiography of the head, neck, spine, chest, and extremities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares room, equipment, and materials as needed for patients.
- Cleans and disinfects mammography room and equipment.
- Assesses the developmental needs of patients from infant to geriatric and adjusts service, treatment and instruction appropriately.
- Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific radiology exams. (adjusts equipment; determines proper voltage, current and desired exposure time; arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient, adjust lead shield, uses collimation of x-ray beam, utilizes accessory equipment to acquire images and selects a proper image size.)
- Review and evaluate x-rays to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
- Explains procedures to patients to insure safety and comfort during the procedure.
- Knowledgeable in DR techniques.
- Knowledgeable in radiological quality control.
- Prepares images for a reading by radiologist.
- Knowledgeable in the teleradiology system in use.
- Knowledgeable in I H S/RIS system of RPMS.
- Assists in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies.
- Keeps work area clean. Maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties; writes reports and schedules patients for examinations.
- Participates in clinic wide quality improvement activities and programs as directed.
- Gives patient instructions as to the type of preparation needed for all types of imaging examinations.
- Responsible for entering reports after read by radiologist.
RADIATION SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Checking aprons and other shielding devices for cracks or leaks in lead.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform other duties and projects as required by Administration and Management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
- Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- A graduate of an approved school of radiology technology.
- Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or ability to obtain certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Long term standing or sitting
- Repetitive computer work
- Bending, stretching, kneeling and moderate to heavy lifting is required
- May be seated for prolonged periods of time
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
General clinical environment with frequent exposure to chemicals, blood borne pathogens and patient body fluids.
