Job Title: GYC Director
Supervisor: HR/Program Committee, President of the CCGY Board
Organization Summary: The Citizens Committee for Greenwich Youth (CCGY) is a volunteer, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide recreational facilities, programs and opportunities for the youth of our community. We contract with the Village of Greenwich to operate the Greenwich Youth Center (GYC) for a minimum of 15 hour per week. Funding is provided by the Gannon Fund and other grants/donations. We work with the Village of Greenwich, the Town of Greenwich as well as public and private entities to maximize the impact of our funds.
Position Summary: The GYC Director provides oversight and direction of daily GYC operations and creates and guides the implementation of youth programming. The Director collaborates with the HR committee on the training and supervision of staff and volunteers as well as the creation and management of the GYC budget. Good communication and collaboration with others (CCGY board, staff, Village office and community groups, etc.) is an essential part of this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with the Program Manager to maintain open hours and programs.
- Recruit, organize and maintain the GYC volunteer force.
- Together with the Program Manager develop a volunteer training program.
- Actively supervise GYC activities during open hours for a minimum of 15 hours weekly.
- Enforce current health and safety requirements. Example: COVID
- Develop, organize and schedule programming with Program Manager throughout the year.
- Partner with community groups on special programming for youth.
- Coordinate with Program Manager to produce a monthly calendar of events for GYC.
- Organize and run weekly GYC team meetings.
- Provide payroll inputs to the CCGY Treasurer or other designated individual, via excel.
- Coordinate with Program Manager to maintain general food and program supplies including purchasing of supplies and working with the Greenwich Food Pantry.
- Maintain Petty Cash and provide the Treasurer with receipts for purchases, using Google sheets to report expenditures.
- Collect and record all incoming receipts. (donations, grants, stipends)
- Develop and execute regular communication plans for members, volunteers, Board and community to include “thank you’s” to donors.
- Support the Program Manager and Community Relations Committee to produce all flyers, web site, social media and press releases.
- Share all flyers and monthly calendars with the Greenwich Central School District and other community partners.
- Maintain frequent contact with volunteers, Board members, staff, parents and members.
- Produce an End of Month “Director’s Report”. (Attendance, Programs, Concerns & Needs)
- Work with HR/Program committee to develop and implement program budgets.
- Represent GYC to the community by attending appropriate events and meetings.
- Provide management of Program Manager and Program Associate including input on annual review.
Skills & Qualifications
- Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must work well with children, grades 3-12, in both educational and recreational settings
- Must be able to discipline children appropriately while encouraging growth and respect.
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Background check required.
- Proficiency in computer programs especially Office.
- Proficient in Social Media apps.
Salary: $20 per hour
Average 25-hour work week
Monday through Friday but may include occasional weekends for special events.
Job Type: Part-time
