What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mortgage Loan Officer position at Citizens First Bank?
Are you passionate about helping people achieve their dream of homeownership? Citizens First Bank is looking for an entry-level Mortgage Loan Officer who’s ready to grow their lending career while making a real difference in the lives of our customers.
This is a great opportunity for someone with at least a year of lending experience—whether in mortgage, consumer, or other areas—who’s ready to take the next step in their career! You’ll not only work with customers to originate loans but also get hands-on experience reviewing and approving your own loans—and even reviewing others’ work pre-closing. If you're looking to expand your skillset and build relationships in the Sparta community, we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll Do:
- Work directly with customers to guide them through the mortgage loan process
- Underwrite your own loans and help review loans underwritten by your teammates
- Build relationships with realtors, builders, and other partners in the community
- Manage your own loan portfolio—including handling delinquencies when needed
- Stay on top of mortgage programs including secondary market, USDA, VA, and construction loans
- Actively participate in business development and community engagement opportunities
- Collaborate with our Mortgage Processing Team to make the loan experience smooth and efficient
- Other job duties as required
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- At least 1 year of lending experience
- Comfortable working independently while also being a team player
- Great communication skills, attention to detail, and a drive to learn and grow
- Bonus points if you’ve worked with underwriting software
Why Join Us?
- Be part of a supportive, knowledgeable team
- Grow into a more senior lending role over time
