Family Advocate
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Act as Team Leader, facilitating interdisciplinary team meetings and managing children's records.
- Develop a Parent, Family, and Community Engagement Plan with each family.
- Plan and implement family and community activities with parent and staff input.
- Ensure monthly parent meetings at each center and elect and support Policy Council representatives.
- Organize individual and group activities for parents at center and program levels.
- Conduct home visits to complete paperwork and build relationships with Head Start families.
- Make referrals to social, health, and educational agencies; track outcomes.
- Document all family and team communications accurately in the program database.
- Support recruitment efforts and enrollment.
- Monitor child attendance to meet Head Start standards.
- Arrange transportation and childcare for parents to attend appointments and meetings.
- Serve on a community board or council and encourage parent involvement.
- Participate in supervisory meetings and maintain required paperwork.
- Collaborate with parents and community agencies to enhance local services.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director to achieve program goals.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related field
- Able to read, write and speak Portuguese
Schedule: Pay rate:
- Monday - Friday, 35 Hours per week,
- 52 weeks a year
- $20.63 an hour with Associates degree
- $27.70 an hour with Bachelor's degree
Physical requirements:
- Ability to lift/carry up to 40 lbs; ability to maintain full attention at all times when working with children and/or families; sufficient mobility and strength to repeatedly sit, stand, carry infants/toddlers, balance, stoop, walk, stretch, bend, reach, kneel, and have full range of body motion; ability to react and move quickly; sufficient vision and hearing to perform job duties; ability to drive/operate a motor vehicle; sufficient manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to perform job duties.
- Must have a physical every two years. A physician’s certificate is required.
