- TITLE: Teller
- REPORTS TO: Office Manager
- SUPERVISES: N/A
- BASIC FUNCTION:
- Provide service to bank customers by conducting appropriate transactions and meeting the needs of customers by referring them to appropriate departments in the bank. Represents the bank in attending civic and community functions. Supports bank event activities including working events on evenings and weekends. Available to work Monday through Saturday.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Receive checking and savings deposits: verify cash and endorsements, receive proper identification for cash back, and issue receipts of deposit.
- Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and complete Hold Notices.
- Process savings withdrawals
- Cash checks: verify endorsement, receive proper identification, and ensure validity.
- Identify counterfeit currency.
- Answer basic customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges, and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
- Cross-sell bank products and services.
- Refer customers to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved at the teller line.
- Issue cashier’s checks to bank customers.
- Accept loan payments: verify payment amount and issue receipts.
- Buy and sell currency from the vault as necessary, ensuring that teller drawer cash limits are not exceeded.
- Ensure teller station is properly supplied.
- Balance drawer daily, including periodic batching of cashed checks.
- Maintain appropriate currency logs.
- Following bank policies and procedures requires compliance as a condition of employment and penalties for non-compliance include probation or immediate dismissal. Certain policies such as Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requires that violations of the Act whenever the financial institution detects any known or suspected Federal criminal violation, or pattern of criminal violations, committed or attempted against the financial institution or involving a transaction or transactions conducted through the financial institution, where the financial institution believes that it was either an actual or potential victim of a criminal violation, or series of criminal violations, or that the financial institution was used to facilitate a criminal transaction, and the financial institution has a substantial basis for identifying one of its directors, officers, employees, agents, or other institution-affiliated parties as having committed or aided in the commission of a criminal act regardless of the amount involved in the violation will be reported to the proper law enforcement agency or agencies and the financial institution’s regulatory agency.
- Promote Citizens Guaranty Bank within the community by participating in community organizations and special events.
- Other duties as assigned.

- The ability to prioritize and make on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions, weighing customer satisfaction issues with Bank exposure to loss or fraud.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Cash handling or sales experience preferred
- Prior Customer Service experience preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Occasional travel may be required to open accounts at customer’s location and to attend seminars and meetings held at another location.
- On occasion, there will be meetings or training sessions that will require before or after work start time that is not regularly scheduled
- 85% of working time will be spent in a sitting position at a desk.

- Must be able to communicate with customers over the counter and by telephone
- Must be able to carry a full box of coin up to 25 pounds from the vault to the teller station
