Monday-Thursday 4pm-8pm and Saturday 8am-12pm
JOB SUMMARY
The Fitness Specialist assists members on the fitness floor with exercises, leads group fitness classes, and provides personal training services. Conducts Coaching Sessions, Exercise Prescriptions and Personal Training for members. Ensures safe and effective programming activities for members, ensures equipment is clean, safe and useful to members, and performs opening and closing procedures as needed.
Job Specific:
- Approach members on a daily basis offering assistance, correction to exercise technique and spotting assistance. (EF)
- Provide coaching, encouragement and assistance to members on the fitness floor. (EF)
- Help connect members to CMC/HealthPlex services.
- Perform Coaching Sessions, Exercise Prescriptions, and Personal Training as scheduled. (EF)
- Provide follow up outreach to members via text and phone, encouraging attendance.
- Assist Fitness Manager with projects as assigned and requested. (EF)
- Teach and substitute for group fitness classes as qualified. (EF)
- Clean equipment and perform basic preventive maintenance as scheduled and requested. (EF)
Hospital:
- Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
- Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital’s Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
- Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
- Performs within professional Scope of Practice at all times.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Required: High school diploma
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Previous experience working with adults in a fitness or personal training environment.
Preferred: 1-2 years experience working with adults in a fitness or personal training environment.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required: Ability to interact and establish rapport with wide variety of people. Able to give instruction, encourage and inspire. Must be coachable and teachable.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Required: AHA HeartSaver First Aid/CPR/AED (Adult and Infant) upon hire OR within 90 days of hire. Internal Water Safety Training within 90 days of hire. NCCA accredited fitness certification upon hire or within 6 months of hire.
