JOB SUMMARY

The OR Materials and Sterile Processing Coordinator will lead, implement, measure, and direct supply chain activities within the operating room/surgical services. The Coordinator will support OR operations through inventory management and fostering a collaborative environment between supply chain and the clinical surgical services employees. The Coordinator will serve as the point of contact for sales representatives and vendors. The Coordinator will be responsible for data integrity, accuracy and efficiency of the preference card process, supporting the Supply Chain clinical resources for margin improvement, and patient billing review and process integrity initiatives.

Job Specific:

  • Supports the Director of Surgical Services in adhering to policies and procedures in the areas of procurement, inventory control, receiving and storage, distribution duplicating and mail transport for the operating room.
  • Ensures PAR levels per budget.
  • Reviews, evaluates and approves all purchase orders. (EF)
  • Reviews, evaluates and approves all requests for non-stock purchases prior to procurement. (EF)
  • Ensures items built in the Materials Management Information Systems are accurate and complete. (EF)
  • Prepares the schedule for the onsite OR Supply Chain Operations to meet clinical scheduling needs, if applicable.
  • Responsible for the daily Supply Chain Clinical Integration within the OR to include ordering and restocking or all Operating Room supplies. (EF)
  • Responsible for optimization of replenishment processes for all OR inventory areas managed by Supply Chain. (EF)
  • Manages the Tissue Tracker system to include vendor Certifications, Recalls and Quarterly Inventory verification. (EF)
  • Manages the expiration dates for all supplies in the Operating Room.
  • Serves as OR point of contact for sales representatives.
  • Collaborates regularly with the Director of Surgical Services on OR initiatives.
  • Manages the implementation, cleanup and optimization of the OR Meditech Supply Inventory dictionary and Supply Inventory on Physician Preference cards. (EF)
  • Ensures employees are trained and best equipped to perform their job duties and develops staff via ongoing in-service education, on-the-job training, evaluations, and open departmental meetings.
  • Directs preventative maintenance of disinfection/sterilization equipment.
  • Assists with troubleshooting of instrumentation and equipment.

Hospital:

  • Adhere to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
  • Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital’s Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
  • Perform within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
  • Perform within professional Scope of Practice.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Required: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis on business administration, economics or a related field; Graduate from Surgical Technology Program and/or equivalent clinic training

EXPERIENCE:

Required: At least five (5) years’ experience in specialization in inventory management and supplier price negotiating in healthcare environment. Knowledge of state regulations for acute healthcare facilities.
