What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapy Technician - Days (PT) position at Citizens Medical Center?
JOB SUMMARY
The Physical Therapy Technician is responsible for provision and administration of specific physical therapy treatments, only under the direct supervision of the physical therapist and/or physical therapist assistant. The Physical Therapy Technician assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability, and assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The Physical Therapy Technician also participates in operational aspects of the department and performs clerical duties.
Job Specific:
- Responsible for providing specific treatment only as directed by the staff physical therapist. Adheres to standards of physical therapy practice for neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and the general patient population. (EF)
- Monitors vital signs as needed and maintains adequate knowledge base regarding cardiovascular and respiratory precautions for patient undergoing physical therapy service and treatment. (EF)
- Maintains medical record forms, evaluations, educational handouts, distribution material, and assists in record keeping. (EF)
- Communicates any changes in condition (mental or physical) to the physical therapist, physical therapist assistant, nursing and other facility personnel, as appropriate. (EF)
- Orders, stocks, and maintains accurate records of adaptive equipment.
- Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety.
- Transports patients according to scheduled appointment time, maintains compliance with safety policies during transport at all times.
- Prepares and cleans treatment areas for patient use. (EF)
- Records treatment/service revisions in accordance with departmental policy.
Hospital:
- Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
- Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital’s Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
- Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
- Performs within professional Scope of Practice at all times.

- Preferred: One year of experience as a Physical Therapy Technician and/or a strong desire and plan to pursue a degree in physical therapy.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Required: Basic knowledge of computer systems, physical therapy modalities, and anatomy & physiology.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
