Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payment Poster to join our medical office team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely posting of payments received from patients and insurance companies. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding, and records management to effectively manage payment processes and resolve discrepancies.
Duties
- Accurately post payments from various sources, including insurance companies and patients, into the billing system.
- Review and reconcile payment discrepancies by analyzing patient accounts and communicating with relevant parties.
- Maintain detailed records of all transactions and ensure compliance with medical coding standards such as ICD-9 and ICD-10.
- Collaborate with the medical collection team to follow up on outstanding payments and resolve any issues related to billing.
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology and coding to assist in the preparation of reports related to payment activities.
- Ensure that all payments are processed in accordance with established policies and procedures within the medical office.
- Assist in maintaining accurate medical records by updating patient information as necessary.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office setting, particularly in roles involving payment posting or billing.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), and DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) systems.
- Familiarity with medical collection processes and procedures is highly desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems or similar software for managing patient accounts.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, insurance representatives, and team members.
- Strong analytical skills for resolving discrepancies in payment postings.
