SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled work in cleaning, maintaining, and servicing bus stops and terminals for a public transit system.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible for maintaining a highly standardized facility maintenance program which includes grass mowing, painting, weed eating, digging, and general janitorial services for the District.
2. Maintains routine records of activities performed and materials used.
3. Makes visual inspections of transit facility buildings and bus stops for accident damage, broken glass and burned out lights.
4. Reports damage, defects or malfunctioning parts to appropriate authority.
5. Facilitates route changes as per written work orders.
6. Preps service truck prior to the work shift on a daily basis.
7. Cleans garage and parking areas and performs other related cleaning, sweeping, mopping or dusting duties.
8. Operates company vehicles.
9. Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or G.E.D. required; one (1) to three (3) years of experience in general grounds keeping and building maintenance experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience that is determined to be directly related to the specific requirements may be substituted.
OTHER CERTIFICATES/LICENSES:
Must possess a valid State of Florida driver's license and maintain it in good standing while employed by the District.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
· Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
· Ability to maintain accurate records performed and materials used.
· Must be able to understand, read and communicate in English.
· PC literate, basic skills in Microsoft Office and Internet research
· Ability to do basic math.
· Must be a self-starter; able to work independently.
· Ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, various County and City employees, customers, and the general public.
· Uses sound, independent judgment in daily work activities and exercise discretion; has strong ethical standards.
· Basic skills in the use of hand operated tools and equipment.
· Ability to comply with all OSHA 29 CFR regulations as they pertain to industrial facility repair and maintenance.

This job sometimes perform essentially in an outdoors environment, subject to extremes of both hot and cold weather and wet conditions. Employee must be able to work outside on a daily basis. This position is exposed to various chemical and gas/ diesel fumes on a daily basis.
Must be able physically able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a daily basis.
