What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer - Meals On Wheels position at Citrus County Board of County Commissioners?
Citrus County is a welcoming, economically vibrant community where people and nature live in harmony. Working for Citrus County means becoming an integral member of an organization driven by values, committed to delivering responsive services to our citizens. We aim to enhance our community's strength and improve our citizens' quality of life through high-quality programs, services, and facilities.
Citrus County Support Services has been delivering meals to the homebound since 1979. In fact, our first group of volunteers delivered only 13 meals in the entire county. A lot has changed since 1979, and due to the overwhelming need for service, our agency now provides over 400 meals on a daily basis.
Our goal is to provide nutritious meals to seniors, which meets at least one-third of the average adult daily nutritional requirements. Hot meals are delivered Monday through Friday, and boxes of frozen meals that can reheated at the client's convenience on Mondays. Meals are delivered by dedicated volunteer drivers. Clients look forward to the interaction with the volunteers as much as they look forward to the meals.
Citrus County greatly benefits from the services provided by skilled and motivated Meals on Wheels volunteers and encourages involvement by Citrus County citizens.
