The Cemetery Operations Coordinator performs routine to complex support and technical work in the maintenance, management, customer service and coordination of all activities/operations of the City and County’s Lakeview and Broomfield County Commons Cemeteries. The primary responsibilities include performing a variety of complex tasks of moderate difficulty related to the City and County’s Cemetery Operations and providing information and assistance to City and County staff and the public.
The incumbent exemplifies the characteristics of a collaborative, innovative and resilient work culture and along with the leadership team, models the appropriate behavior to create and maintain a resilient work culture within the department.
Salary Range: $36.28 - $49.08
Schedule: Monday - Friday from 7:00am to 3:00pm with on-call responsibilities.
Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties

Supervise the operations of an assigned unit to achieve goals within available resources by assuring responsibilities are performed within budget; assisting in the preparation of annual and semi-annual budget requests; and assuring effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time.- Assist in the preparation of the unit's budget including recommendations to higher-level supervisors on equipment and staffing needs of assigned unit. Requisition non-capital equipment and supplies necessary to complete division's activities. Assist in the development of specifications and justifications for the request of additional supplies and equipment.
- Provide leadership and direction in the development of short and long range plans to include planning and organizing workloads and staff assignments on a daily and weekly basis with some planning functions for longer-term activities
- Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow; study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Assign work to subordinate personnel. Instruct subordinates in new and existing techniques. Answer questions concerning work assignments and operations.
- Considerable knowledge of the City and County’s Cemetery Operations, Rules and Regulations.
- Assist the public with the location of graves with families and monument companies.
- Prepare grave sites for funeral services and burials.
- Repairs, maintains, relocates and installs monuments; delivers, picks up and installs memorial panels for the cemeteries' columbariums.
- Able to operate and maintain all aspects of cemetery equipment.
- Maintain all aspects of landscape maintenance.
- Provide support to other Park Divisions.
- Provide backup to the Cemetery Coordinator - Recreation, if needed.
- Assists in the operation of snow plows and the coordination of snow plowing operations during inclement weather, and is available for snow control duties after hours and on weekends.
- Required to work special events on holidays, weekends, and outside normally scheduled working hours.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma/GED - required
Experience
3 years experience in Interments and Inurnments, cemetery maintenance, and maintenance of the cemetery grounds - required
- 1 year supervision experience required.
Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (in addition to above requirements):
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record for continued employment.
- Pre-employment physical.
Working Conditions

- Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some weekend and holiday work required.
- Work involves on-call duty which requires working weekends on a rotating basis and working all hours during emergencies as needed.
- Physical demands are described as heavy (exert up to 65 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects).
- Required to lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
