What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Circulation Supervisor position at City and County of Broomfield?
The Library Circulation Supervisor supervises the employees and operations of the library’s circulation services.
This role has a high level of responsibility and includes all planning, directing, organizing, implementing, and coordinating in library circulation. As a leader in the Library, Arts, History, and CSU Extension Department, the Circulation Supervisor models the appropriate behavior to create and maintain a collaborative, innovative, and resilient work culture within the department.
The incumbent works in partnership with other employees, departments/divisions, agencies and the public in delivering effective and innovative services. They maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all members of the community. While performing in-charge-of-building duties, they enforce safety policies and the Library’s Code of Conduct procedures.

Oversee day-to-day library operations in library circulation
Ensure coverage for Circulation Desk, circulation workroom, shelving and paging; collaborate with the supervisory team to ensure building wide coverage.
Implement department goals, develop and align team goals to department goals.
Build an effective team by providing guidance and coaching to staff, developing annual performance plans and conducting annual reviews.
Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse staff of top quality people
Develop and maintain a training plan for the team.
Maintain statistics and analyze patron data and trends to make decisions in the assigned area.
Manage public relations and communication by engaging with employees, community groups, and the public, fostering effective relationships with other departments and organizations, and representing the library at meetings.
Maintain a professional knowledge of current trends, developments, guidelines and recommendations in library circulation.
Contribute to leadership of the department by working collaboratively with other department supervisors and managers
Handles patron problems dealing with circulation function.
Responds to patrons’ requests for assistance in-person, over email, or on the phone.
Oversees maintenance of library computers, facilities, and other equipment and machinery in assigned areas; and resolves operational problems or forwards maintenance requests as appropriate.
Plans and coordinates the operations and policies of the shared ILS system as it relates to circulation issues, with other Marmot members. Analyzes technological advances and recommends appropriate applications.
Education
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Experience
4 years experience required in customer service, preferably in library circulation service.
2 years supervision or lead experience required.
