These are seasonal positions starting immediately and ending as late as December. Most crews work 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Hours could vary based on weather and department needs. Depending on crew assignment, weekend and/or holiday work may be required. Please review the supplemental questions for specific scheduling requirements for each crew.
Salary Range: $18.94- $23.14/hour

All potential crew members must be 18 years old. A valid driver's license with a safe driving record is preferred. Available crews are below.
Athletics:
- Preparation, development and maintenance of park areas, open space, rights-of-way.
- Preparation of baseball and softball fields including cleaning dugouts, hand dragging or dragging the fields using a golf cart, chalking the fields, raking the mounds or home plate areas and occasionally replacing the base receptacles.
- The maintenance of soccer fields or football fields including marking and lining the fields and occasionally moving the soccer goals either manually or with the assistance of a tractor.
Structures:
- The installation and repair of all park structures.
- Performing safety inspections and repairs to playgrounds and playground equipment including repairing and painting picnic tables, park benches etc.
- Maintaining and cleaning outdoor shelters and restroom facilities.
Horticulture:
- Planting and weeding flower beds, planting and pruning trees, removing or replacing tree posts, tree/limb removal, chipping limbs, planting and maintaining shrubs to include pruning, weeding and mulching, spraying herbicides and pesticides.
Irrigation:
- The diagnosis, maintenance and repair of irrigation systems in parks, greenbelts, municipal buildings, native areas and sports complexes.
- Installing, troubleshooting and repairing mainlines, laterals, valves, controllers, booster pumps, flow sensors, irrigation heads on domestic and reclaimed water.
Open Space:
- Control of noxious weeds by using herbicides, hand pulling, seed collection, biological controls and mowing.
- Evaluating and repairing structures, fences, signs, docks, piers, etc. in open space.
Mowing:
- Mowing, trimming and edging of parks, rights-of-way, sport complexes.
- Use and maintain equipment from hand mowers to 16' riding mowers.
Forestry:
- Tree pruning, removal, chipping, stump grinding, inventory, and disease and insect control.
All crews assists with equipment service and maintenance. Insures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use. Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to appropriate division; cleans equipment. Cleans shop area. Assists in the set-up of special events. Performs trash removal from park areas, shelters and ball fields. May also be required to assist with snow removal and hanging holiday decorations. Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. Operates construction and maintenance equipment such as pick-up trucks, tractors, front-loaders, dump trucks, mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers, box scrapers, tillers, aerators, snow blowers, sprayers, spreaders, chippers, wheelbarrows, hand tools and pruning tools.
Duties require a full range of physical motion and activities including manual digging, pushing, pulling, lifting, twisting and turning the upper body, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, crawling, reaching for objects, walking, and standing. The incumbent must also be alert to peripheral activities when operating equipment and, therefore, must have a full range of movement in the neck and shoulders.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (in addition to above requirements):
New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, and background checks, which may include local police check and sex-offender registry.
If this position is required to drive a CCOB vehicle a DMV check will be required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record for continued employment.
