Make an impact in the community by joining the Streets Team. The Streets Division is responsible for the maintenance of over 285 miles of roadway, including: street sweeping more than 4,000 miles annually, 75,000 lbs. of crack sealing annually, more than 60,000 miles of plowing and deicing for snow and ice control annually, and more!


The Road and Bridge team is currently looking for Full-time Streets Technicians at level I, II, or III (depending on qualifications/experience). Please see the Minimum Qualifications section below detailing the training/experience required.


Total Compensation Package

112 hours paid vacation 10 sick days 12 paid holidays per year

Level and pay are dependent on qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications for more details):

Technician I  Salary Range: $22.72 - $27.76/hour

Technician II  Salary Range: $26.98 - $32.97/hour

Technician III  Salary Range: $31.26 - $42.30/hour

Technician I

  • Assist with daily asphalt maintenance repairs, such as crack seal, mastic, pothole repair, and occasionally asphalt patching repair.

  • Road shoulder repair

  • Operates and performs preventive maintenance and routine repairs on equipment

  • Cleans and maintains shop building and grounds

  • Assists in the operation of snowplows during inclement weather

  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards

  • Uses hand tools to complete maintenance work

  • Acquires knowledge and practical experience in the field

  • Assists with all other Road and Bridge maintenance activities as assigned

In addition to the above duties, Technician II performs the following:

  • Performs maintenance activities with little supervision

  • Acts as a troubleshooter to resolve problems within a particular area of assignment

  • May work as a field crew leader

  • May assume responsibility for division activities during the absence of a Technician III 

In addition to the above duties, Technician III performs the following:

  • Under the direction of the Streets Foreman, complete daily and weekly work schedules

  • May assume responsibility for division activities during the absence of a Foreman

  • Provides on-the-job instruction and orientation to lower-level personnel as assigned 

  • Assists in major maintenance and repairs to division equipment

  • Supervise contractual work at the direction of Streets Foreman

Ideal Candidate

  • High school graduate (or equivalent)

  • Skilled in critical thinking and the ability to problem solve

  • Able and willing to work on-call duty which requires working weekends on a rotating basis and working all hours during emergency repairs as needed


Experience

  • Technician I:  No experience required

  • Technician II:  At least 2 years of experience in street maintenance. Experience in road and bridge maintenance preferred. 

  • Technician III: At least 3 years of experience in street maintenance.  Experience in road and bridge maintenance preferred. Some lead experience is preferred. 


Certifications & Other Requirements

  • All Positions: 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record for continued employment. 

  • The successful candidate must pass all pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes including interview, reference checks, background checks including police check and sex-offender registry check, driving record check through DMV, pre-employment physical, substance abuse screening test and background check required by DOT regulations.

  • Please note, these positions will be subject to random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident alcohol and substance abuse testing as required by law

  • Technician I and II: 

  • Must obtain a Flagger’s Certification within six months of employment.

  • Within six months of employment date, the successful candidate must obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s license Class B with air brake and tanker endorsement (must be maintained for continued employment)

  • Technician III: 

  • Must obtain a Flaggers certification within six months of employment.

  • Within six months of employment date, the successful candidate must obtain  a valid Commercial Driver’s license Class A with air brake and tanker endorsement (must be maintained for continued employment)

  • Work involves on-call duty which requires working weekends on a rotating basis and working all hours during emergency repairs as needed.       

  • Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some weekend and holiday work required

  • Required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.      

  • Required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl  

  • Required to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects   

  • Required to talk or hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; bend or twist from the upper body; use hands and/or feet to perform manual tasks such as digging; push or pull; reach with hands and arms; squat; stoop; crouch; and climb or balance 

  • Physical demands are described as Very Heavy Work (Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50  pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects)

  • Requires walking or standing to a significant degree

  • Work near moving mechanical parts 

  • Work in year-round outdoor weather conditions

  • Use hand tools to complete maintenance work

Salary : $47,258 - $87,984
