The Culture & Strategy Division is seeking a detail-oriented person to join the team as the Senior ACDBE Program Specialist. As part of the DEN Chief of Staff portfolio, the Culture & Strategy Division is responsible for leading DEN’s efforts in the following areas impacting the entire organization, including our stakeholders : (1) Vision 100 Strategic Plan and performance measurement; (2) Equity, Engagement & Inclusion; (3) Continuous Improvement; (4) Employee Wellness Program; (5) ACDBE Program Administration; (6) Business Learning & Development; and (6) Strategic Outreach & Engagement. As part of the DEN Culture & Strategy Division, the Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) team leads efforts to level the playing field and increase access for socially and economically disadvantaged businesses that wish to participate in concession opportunities at DEN.

The Department of Transportation's (DOT) ACDBE program is implemented by recipients that receive funds subject to Title 49 Code of Federal Regulations Part 23 (49 CFR 23). DEN’s ACDBE Team provides administration and oversight of the ACDBE Program at DEN. The objectives of the ACDBE Program are to :

Ensure nondiscrimination in the award and administration of opportunities for concessions by airports receiving DOT financial assistance.

Create a level playing field on which ACDBEs can compete fairly for opportunities for concessions.

Help remove barriers to the participation of ACDBEs in opportunities.

What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive pay rate to commensurate with education. The salary range for this position is $19.75-$22.32 / hour, based on education. Denver International Airport emerging talent positions are required to attend all sessions of professional development within the cohort model. You will be onboarded with a cohort of peers to begin to help you develop your network across the aviation industry.

As an intern, you will get to experience working on projects such as :

Develop facilitating, presenting, and training skills to enhance underutilized business knowledge of the aviation industry as it relates to aviation and concessions.

Learn to apply work procedures and policies to related assignments by developing and presenting a training module for underutilized small businesses.

Discover communication models that will increase engagement with the small business community.

Communicate with employees and the public to receive and relay factual information and to facilitate public relations.

Conduct interviews with internal and external stakeholders to support the development of a training model for the small business community.

Train in and prepare various summary reports that relate to the implementation of new processes and other documents in accordance with specified requirements, guidelines, and supervisory instructions.

Observe and support in administering facilitated events, training, and programs related to the support of underutilized small businesses in the areas of architecture, engineering, construction, and concessions.

Under normal supervision, apply work procedures and theoretical and technical aspects relevant to the professional field to the completion of assigned portions of a project.

Attend meetings, conferences, or other educational classes, participate in training offered by the City, and apply information to work assignments.

Interpersonal Skills - Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, cooperation, concern, and politeness to others and relates well to different people from varied backgrounds and different situations.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Reading – Understands and interprets written material, including technical material, rules, regulations, instructions, reports, charts, graphs, or tables; applies what is learned from written material to specific situations.

Writing – Writes in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience.

Presentation – Understands public speaking skills and some knowledge of facilitating.

Minimum qualifications :

Education Requirement : Current enrollment in an accredited college program leading to a certificate, licensure, associate’s, bachelor’s, or higher degree in, or a recent graduate (completed specified program within 1 year of completion).

Experience : None

Education and Experience Equivalency : No substitution of experience for education is permitted.

Location Flexibility

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model with a required 3 days in office. Employees work where needed to support business, at the Denver International Airport. We do not offer housing or relocation assistance for this position.
