The DOTI Safety Division team has an opening for a Commercial Driver License (CDL) Program Coordinato . In this critical position, you will be supporting two programs, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Program and Entry Level Driving Training 3rd Party Testing Program, each crucial to the success of DOTI operations. As the CDL Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for all daily program functions, including onboarding new CDL drivers, responding to prior employer safety check inquiries , maintaining driver files, scheduling random drug/alcohol tests and Department of Transportation (DOT) physical renewals, collaborating on special projects, and providing guidance to staff on State/Federal regulations. The CDL Program Coordinator will cultivate a respectful working relationship with various city departments to ensure the success of both programs. As the CDL Program Coordinator, you will be the first point of contact for staff seeking guidance and assistance. You will also be part of a culture that strives for continuous process improvement and will be expected to participate in ongoing projects to better align program services to divisional goals. In this position, you can expect to: Create, maintain, and audit Driver Qualification Files in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Maintain CDL databases for all active DOTI CDL Drivers. Assist new drivers through pre-driving/onboarding process and provide technical assistance as needed on vendor platforms. Complete required FMCSA pre-employment checks through the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the FMCSA Clearinghouse. Monitor and schedule drivers for DOT physical renewals, and escalate any disqualifications to the CDL Program Manager for resolution. Monitor CDL expiration dates and send renewal notifications to manager/drivers. Coordinate monthly Random Drug and Alcohol Testing and enter results into vendor platform and escalate any disqualifications to the CDL Program Manager for resolution. Complete driver safety history requests for prior employees. Collect New CDL Driver Application Packets and schedule current employees for Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT). Assist with collecting and maintaining data for developing and monitoring performance metrics and measurements. Assist with annual CDL Motor Vehicle check required by FMCSA. When needed, the CDL Program Coordinator will create content on programmatic updates and present to divisions. Identify areas for program/process improvement and work with DOTI Staff to implement changes. About You We are looking for candidates with some or all of the following experience/skills: Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations Maintaining employee files, specifically DOT Driver Qualification Files Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Experience with Workday Data collection and maintaining databases Attention to detail and eagerness to learn new skills Onboarding new employees and verifying/collecting required documents Ability to communicate effectively and explain complex rules, regulations, and policy to staff We realize your time is valuable so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required minimum qualifications: Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate. Experience: Five (5) years of technical or administrative experience performing standard research and evaluation, case management, and/or implementing work processes.
