About Our Job The City and County of Denver Police Department is seeking a Director of Strategic Initiatives The Director of the Strategic Initiatives Bureau in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Police is responsible for developing short- and long-term strategic goals, driving innovation and evaluation efforts, and maximizing organizational efficiency and effectiveness. The Bureau’s Director oversees the Planning, Research, and Support Section and Grants Administration Unit. Job responsibilities include: Oversee and manage multiple teams as the head of the unit Implement complex strategies or approaches as managed by the Chief and Deputy Chief of Police Manage and oversee complex business plans Develop and implement financially responsible operational plans consistent with the department’s needs Coordinate policy and high-liability issues with the executive staff Work with city executives and community partners to ensure the mission of the DPD is successfully implemented About You The ideal candidate will have: Previous experience implementing department initiatives to include but not limited to: policies, data collection, analysis and interpretation, and the efficient use of technology to improve operations. Strong communication skills. Previous supervisory experience to include mentoring, coaching, and guidance of staff. Previous experience collaborating with high-level stakeholders to include community leaders. Below are the minimum requirements used to determine eligibility for this position: Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field based on a specific position(s). Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience at the type and level of functional or operational management (comparable to at least "Manager" in the City's internal management classification series). Education/Experience Equivalency: Two (2) years of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements. License/Certifications: By position, requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
