The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The starting salary range for this position is $78,337-$103,797. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

We work to prevent abuse by providing education, resources, and support to parents, families, and community organizations.
The Child Welfare Services division of Denver Human Services is currently seeking a seeking a top-notch, visionary Social Case Worker Supervisor to directly manage Social Case Workers in our Intake Section, which is primarily is responsible for investigating new allegations of abuse/neglect of children ages 0-18 in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
The Intake Social Case Worker Supervisor will coach, lead and mentor staff as well as have responsibility for the development, planning, and assignment of cases. The successful candidate will demonstrate exemplary leadership, flexibility and have experience empowering staff and managing a diverse workforce. The right person for this position will be someone who has a track record of being able to prioritize the best interest of the child while showing a thorough understanding and dedication to the highest standards of practice.

The selected Intake Social Case Worker Supervisor will empower staff by sharing power and authority, encouraging the development of their leadership capabilities, celebrating team wins and recognizing excellent behavior.
Specifically, as the Intake Social Case Worker Supervisor:
  • Plans, assigns, and reviews the activities of social case workers performing case management functions and recommends changes in practices and procedures to increase operating efficiency and expedite workflow
  • Participates in the development of long range and short-term plans and goals for the assigned area, establishes and/or monitors current methods and policies, and keeps management level personnel abreast of trends and issues in the field and in the department
  • Screens assessments initially to determine level of risk to individuals/families and eligibility for services/programs, assigns assessments, meets with social case workers to discuss status of assessments, problems encountered, basis for actions, and alternative solutions, reviews and discusses progress of assessments and worker's reports, and provides technical guidance and direction in unusual and non-standard situation
  • Trains social case workers in social work techniques and methodologies, orients workers with appropriate laws, policies, regulations, and procedures, and ensures that work conforms to standards, regulations, and laws of state and federal agencies
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with public and private community-based services providers and professional and community groups in order to exchange information, resolve concerns/complaints, and develop and maximize available resources
  • Ensures that staff prepares comprehensive records, reports, and documentation that complies with state and federal standards and requirements. Prepares, supports, and coaches staff who testifies in court proceedings and provide expert testimony
  • Develops or modifies work plans, methods, and procedures and determines work priorities. Assigns and distributes work, reviews work for accuracy and completeness, and returns assignments with recommendations for proper completion
  • Develops the performance enhancement plan, documents performance, provides performance feedback, and formally evaluates the work of employees
  • Responds to formal and informal employee grievances and prepares written response. Documents causes for disciplinary action and initiates letters of reprimand and formal recommendations for disciplinary action
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Intake experience preferred
  • Experience with Differential Response and Partnering for Safety
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience leading, supervising, and/or coordinating staff
Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Requirement: Requirements as set forth in Colorado Department of Human Services Volume 7 and/or Volume 30 regulations. Bachelor's Degree from a higher education institution with course work related to the job responsibilities of child welfare or adult protective services social caseworker. Course work examples can include and are not limited to, the development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, social work, sociology, psychology, psychiatry, gerontology, nursing, special education, guidance and counseling, criminal justice, or other human behavioral sciences or therapeutic techniques
  • Experience Requirement: Requirements as set forth in Colorado Department of Human Services Volume 7 and/or Volume 30 regulations
  • Education & Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for experience requirements
  • Licensure & Certification: Requires a valid Driver’s License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment. Requires certification as a social case worker supervisor in Child Welfare or Adult Protective Services in accordance with CDHS regulations
