The Denver International Airport (DEN) Airline and Commercial Affairs division is actively seeking a Data Analyst ("DENtern") to contribute to their division. As part of DEN's Strategic Plan, Vision 100, which envisions reaching 100 million annual passengers, Airline and Commercial Affairs plays a pivotal role in transforming the aviation industry. The Airline and Commercial Affairs division at Denver International Airport (DEN) manages the relationship with all current and future air carriers. With record-breaking passenger traffic, we thrive to not only maintain the current level of national and international connectivity, but also to continue increasing the number of destinations.
The Air Service Development team maintains the airport’s existing levels of air service while recruiting new service with the additions of new airlines and new nonstop destinations. The team is also responsible for building strategic partnerships with local stakeholders, maintaining consistent outreach with carriers and marketing Denver and Colorado to the global community.
What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive pay rate to commensurate with education. The salary range for this position is $19.75 to $22.32 an hour, based on education. Denver International Airport emerging talent positions are required to attend all sessions of professional development within the cohort model. You will be onboarded with a cohort of peers to begin to help you develop your network across the aviation industry.
As an intern you will get to experience working on projects such as :
Weekly Schedule Changes
Gain experience with aviation data sets involving airline schedules
Present findings to the air service development team
Opportunity to improve workflows
Monthly Reporting
Gain experience with data sets for passenger travel demand
Assist with data analysis for monthly reports to internal and external stakeholders
Work on improvements and additions to current reports or new ones
Airline Business Cases
Create presentations for conferences, headquarter meetings, and other business cases for future and existing air service, using data analysis
Macroeconomic Data and Trend Analysis
Gain experience with data sets from U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Economic Analysis, U.S. Department of Labor, Colorado Demography Office, etc.
Data Visualizations
Assist with building and maintaining PowerBI dashboards with data from DEN Finance, TSA, and CBP
Job Shadowing in the Airline and Commercial Affairs division

Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement : Current enrollment in an accredited college program leading to a certificate, licensure, associates, bachelor’s, or higher degree in, or a recent graduate (completed specified program within 1 year of completion).

Education and Experience Equivalency : No substitution of experience for education is permitted.

Location Flexibility
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model with a required 3 days in office. Employees work where needed to support business, at the Denver International Airport. We do not offer housing or relocation assistance for this position.
Internship Duration and Hours
This is a 10-week internship, with typical hours not to exceed 39 hours a week.
FBI Background Check
FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and / or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical / drug test may be required.
