Who We Are
The Denver International Airport (DEN) Planning & Design Team is actively seeking a Wayfinding Graphic Design College Intern (nicknamed “DENtern”) to contribute to their division. As part of DEN's Strategic Plan, Vision 100, which envisions reaching 100 million annual passengers, Planning & Design plays a pivotal role in transforming the aviation industry.
Our Wayfinding team, within the Planning & Design department, is responsible for all signage needs through the airport campus. Creating new, updating existing, and rerouting passengers around construction, all while upholding design standards and ADA standards. We meet with project managers in many different departments to help assist with their signage concerns and create solutions as the subject matter experts in the field.

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive pay rate to commensurate with education. The salary range for this position is $20.92-23.64 / hour, based on education. Denver International Airport emerging talent positions are required to attend all sessions of professional development within the cohort model. You will be onboarded with a cohort of peers to begin to help you develop your network across the aviation industry.
As an intern you will get to experience working on projects such as, but not limited to :
2-3 weeks to observe and engage with DEN’s current check-in system and provide any feedback for improvement from a design or system update.
1-2 weeks to review DEN’s pictogram set, research best practices and updates from industry partners that would help improve DEN’s current pictograms.
On-going throughout time with the wayfinding team. The Intern should learn this tool to help with daily work and understand how we keep a digital map of all signage at DEN.
Observe temporary signage and help identify areas for improvements
2-3 weeks. Walk the floor and help the wayfinding team find areas to improve when it comes to vinyl graphics applied to surfaces or areas that might be under-construction.
Look for areas where signage is overdone, conflicting or in need of attention
Fresh new perspective can surface questioning as to why and / or where signage can be lacking or overdone. The intern will help assist in the plan on how to move and guide passengers with signage as they arrive, leave, or as they are exploring the airport campus while at DEN.

Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement : Current enrollment in an accredited college program leading to a certificate, licensure, associates, bachelor’s, or higher degree in, or a recent graduate (completed specified program within 1 year of completion).

Location Flexibility
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model with a required 3 days in office. This can be worked out depending on school schedule. Employees work where needed to support business, at the Denver International Airport. We do not offer housing or relocation assistance for this position.
Internship Duration and Hours :
Duration : 1 year
Start Date : June 2nd, 2025
End Date : June 2nd, 2026
Typical hours : 8 : 00AM – 4 : 30PM (exact times can be flexible, not to exceed 39 hours / week).
