Position Information
The Honolulu Board of Water Supply, Water Quality Division, is looking to hire two (2) Chemists for their Chemical Laboratory located in Honolulu. These positions independently perform under limited supervision a variety of special and standard chemical analyses and studies of water samples and other water works materials and substances; uses judgment in the selection of methods and techniques; collects water samples, performs standardized laboratory quality assurance and control practices; conducts given portions of studies and research projects; and performs other related duties as required.
Special Working Conditions: Chemicals, climbing, walking, crawling, noxious fumes, hazardous and toxic substances.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited college or university with major work in chemistry.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One year of professional (post-bachelor's degree, non-clerical) chemistry experience in a chemical, physical, analytical, industrial or related laboratory.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of chemistry; the methods and techniques of chemical laboratory analysis; the uses and care of laboratory apparatus and equipment; waterworks chemistry and its supporting literature; practices and procedures utilized in recording, assembling and compiling scientific observations and statistical data; and the ability to conduct standard and special chemical examinations of water samples and waterworks materials and make adaptations to methods and procedures as required; perform research work; make laboratory preparations and computations; and keep records and prepare reports of laboratory procedures, observations and results of tests.
