What are the responsibilities and job description for the BUILDING INSPECTOR AID (SR-14) [2 vacancies] position at City and County of Honolulu?
Assists higher level inspectors in inspecting the construction, alteration or maintenance of buildings and structures of limited size and scope for compliance with the provisions of building and zoning codes and ordinances and adherence to approved plans and specifications by inspecting phases of projects; and performs other related duties as required.

There are two (2) vacancies with the Department of Planning and Permitting.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
TWO (2) years of experience in inspecting or supervising building construction, preparing and/or reading and applying building plans and specifications, or interpreting and/or applying the Building Code and related ordinances.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3), prior to appointment.

Substitution: An Associate degree in architectural or engineering drafting OR a Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering from a regionally-accredited college or university will substitute for the required experience.
