Current Vacancy Information:
- There is one vacancy with the Department of Enterprise Services, Honolulu Zoo.

- Checks and inspects buildings, structures, equipment, and facilities to determine maintenance needs;
- Repairs, replaces, paints, installs or constructs: floors, windows, partitions, doors, locks, roofs, fences, gates, walks, driveways, foundations, sprinkler system washers and gaskets, electrical and plumbing fixtures, cabinets, furniture, and shelves;
- Services, regulates, and repairs equipment such as water heaters, refrigerators, air conditioning units, electrical water coolers, electrical motor, and pumps, etc.;
- Fabricates articles from steel, sheet metal, pipes, wood, and wood products;
- Lay out, assemble, and maintain equipment for public events and constructs special setups;
- Estimate material and labor costs;
- Purchases materials, supplies, tools, and equipment;
- Maintains safe working conditions and practices; and
- Operates a motor vehicle to perform repairs at various sites and transport needed materials for repairs.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to competently perform the journey level skills and duties of this position.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of: the practices, tools, equipment, and materials used in the carpentry, painting, plumbing, masonry, mechanical, and electrical trades; plumbing and electrical equipment in buildings; occupational hazards; and safety practices and procedures. Such experience must also have demonstrated the ability to: determine the need for repairs involving a variety of building trades; use hand and power tools, power equipment, and testing devices utilized in a variety of building trades; install electrical and plumbing fixtures; read and interpret blueprints and sketches; estimate time and material needed to perform a job; do mechanical work with dexterity and safety; understand and follow oral and written instructions; and handle weights and loads.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required.
The current vacancy requires a valid driver's license (automobile/Type 3), prior to appointment. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE EVALUATION:
