Minimum Qualification Requirements
At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
Education Requirement
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
Experience Requirement
Four years of clerical work experience, including or supplemented by two years of public contact experience in activities relating to water sales and/or service.
Preferred Experience: Knowledge in collection and credit processes.

Duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Case Evaluation & Collection: Assessing accounts, prioritizing actions (e.g., billing errors, unauthorized use), and determining the next steps based on each unique situation.
- Research & Customer Identification: Conducting in-depth research (e.g., skip tracing) to locate responsible parties for debt collection.
- Communication: Generating and sending appropriate communications, including phone calls, letters, notices, and regulatory notifications.
- Debt Validation & Billing Resolution: Resolving billing concerns, holding conferences, and providing written decisions in line with company regulations.
- Payment Negotiation & Monitoring: Negotiating and monitoring payment arrangements, documenting and following up on terms.
- Collection Agency Collaboration: Working with collection agencies to refer accounts, validate debt, and respond to disputes, ensuring compliance with debt collection laws.
- Legal Action & Debt Recovery: Taking appropriate actions, such as initiating water shut-offs or filing legal claims, and recommending uncollectible accounts for write-off.
- Case Documentation & Reporting: Organizing case files, creating summaries, and preparing reports as needed.
- Handling Legal Matters: Managing bankruptcy cases, reviewing court filings, and maintaining accounts under legal guidelines, following up on judgments and drafting requests for legal services, and assisting with Small Claims Court processes, including documentation, evidence preparation, and position statements.
- Administrative Support: Assisting with tasks related to preventing theft/unauthorized water use, reviewing contracts and invoices, supporting drafting memos, proposals, and process improvement initiatives, and helping with community outreach events and presentations.
- Other duties as needed.
