Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
For the Department of Facility Maintenance, Public Building and Electrical Maintenance Division position:
Two (2) years of experience pertinent to maintenance and repair of buildings and/or street light facilities , including six (6) months of experience in planning, estimating, scheduling, expediting and/or supervising the use of manpower, machines and materials .
For The Department Of Transportation Services, Rail Division Position:
Two (2) years of experience pertinent to transportation facilities maintenance work , including six (6) months of experience in planning, estimating, scheduling, expediting and/or supervising the use of manpower, machines and materials .
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required.

- Using methods-time measurement procedures to analyze work requests and develop planning methods and scheduling times for typical maintenance jobs performed in an assigned area.
- Screening work orders and assigns priority.
- Assisting in planning daily and weekly work schedules using scheduling times, records of available hours and work outstanding and by reviewing current conditions with line supervisors.
- Maintaining manpower and equipment dispatch boards.
- Maintaining current and accurate records of work outstanding for the areas of operations to which assigned.
- Analyzing weekly performance and backlog reports and informs management of significant changes requiring attention and/or management action.
- Reporting to management any significant variations in work reporting, timekeeping, work methods and procedures and follows up on corrective actions in a staff capacity.
- Visiting job sites and inspects equipment.
- Participating in discussions of performance and possible improvement with supervisors and initiates recommendations to division management on ways to increase productivity.
- Participating in the development of advanced information processing procedures used to assist in scheduling and coordinating manpower, equipment and materials.
- Participating in the training of foremen in work methods, work measurement, job instruction and related activities.
- Preparing various reports.
