In this position at the Honolulu Board of Water Supply, you will assist in conducting a variety of field investigations in connection with water service malfunctions, interruptions and complaints; receive training and perform selected phases of investigative work on a progressively responsible basis.
Work duties include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in investigating abnormal water consumption; verifying meter readings; checking if meter shows leakage; checking if meter is defective; preparing written investigative reports; and notifying consumers of leakage and/or problems.
- Assisting in determining the basis of a problem and making recommendations for the adjustments of abnormal water consumption on billing statement.
- Investigating complaints and/or requests from consumers regarding high or poor pressure, no water, or high water bills.
- Assisting senior investigators with locating underground leaks.
- Assisting in field-testing meters for meter integrity.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One year of public contact work experience which shall have involved interviewing, investigative or other fact finding activities.
Such experience must have demonstrated the knowledge of basic principles and practices of public relations; basic investigative, interviewing and fact finding methods and techniques; and the ability to gather, analyze and evaluate data.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3/automobile), prior to appointment.
