The Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) is looking for a person with experience working with electrically-driven water pumping plant equipment that constantly moves large quantities of liquid around the clock. You will take on the important role of ensuring that the BWS is delivering pure clean water free of any man-made contaminations and monitoring water reservoir levels through telemetering and supervisory controls from the control center for the island-wide water system. Be prepared to take immediate remedial action including supervising field investigations to alleviate any unusual behavior in the water systems and equipment. You will also supervise and train your crew to use the BWS telemetering and supervisory control systems, how to properly operate water pumps and other BWS work systems, procedures, and protocols. You may be required to assist with other Plant Operation functions when not assigned to a shift.
Rotating shift, holiday, and weekend work required. Work schedules are eight hours per day, five days per week, on one of the following work shifts: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show competence in the operation of electrically-driven water pumping plant equipment.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of basic principles of supervision; practices and procedures used in the operation of electrically-operated pumping plant equipment; types and functions of machinery and equipment used in pumping stations; principles and practices of electricity and hydraulics; departmental rules, regulations, procedures and standards; occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work.
Supervisory experience is not required; however highly desired.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Current State of Hawaii Distribution System Operator (DSO) Grade IV Certification.
