Parks and Recreation, Zach Gordon Youth Center is seeking to hire a Part-time Limited Youth Development Leader II to work with Thunder Mountain Middle School students.
We are looking for someone who enjoys mentoring and coaching youth to learn new things.
We are looking for someone who is flexible and enjoys working in a busy environment. Someone who is a self-starter, and is good at, and interested in collaborating with multiple community partners and volunteers to create fun and prevention focused after-school programming.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION
This position will be based at the new Thunder Mountain Middle School during the school year, working approx. 2-3 hours a day, 2:30pm to 5:30pm, Monday-Thursday. During the summer school break, this position will support other ZGYC programming, such as camp, drop-in activities, or other special summer programming, depending on the candidates' strengths and background.
Typical Responsibilities:
This position will support the Body and Mind Afterschool Program (BAM) programming, including leading activities with youth and supporting volunteers and partners while they lead activities. This position is responsible for ensuring youth are supervised in a safe and supportive manner. You will assist in scheduling activities, publicizing activities and providing support to volunteers. You will prepare snacks for all programs and prepare necessary supplies.
You will ensure all necessary paperwork is completed for participating youth and you will track activity attendance, successes, and challenges and adjust accordingly.
In the summer this position will support other Youth Service Division programs as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or the equivalent;
AND
any combination of work experience or post-secondary education totaling six (6) months in any field.
Substitute: Two (2) courses from an accredited college in a human related field may substitute for experience
Other: First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of appointment.
Preferred: A valid driver's license at time of appointment is preferred but not required.
Note: Under Alaska Statute 12.62.160 (9) Appointments to this position are offered conditionally, pending the results of a criminal records report (Non-FBI). Human Resources evaluates the results to ensure the applicant does not have any convictions that result in a direct nexus to the primary duties involving supervising minors.
