Key Responsibilities
- Kitchen Leadership: Supervise and support line cooks during service, fostering a collaborative and efficient kitchen environment.
- Station Management: Oversee daily operations of your assigned station, ensuring readiness, organization, and adherence to food safety standards.
- Menu Execution: Prepare ingredients, cook dishes, and assemble plates according to recipes and presentation standards.
- Training & Mentorship: Train and mentor kitchen staff, sharing knowledge of techniques and best practices.
- Quality Control: Inspect dishes to ensure consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation before they leave the kitchen.
- Inventory Oversight: Monitor station supplies, assist with inventory counts, and communicate shortages or ordering needs.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve challenges during service, maintaining professionalism under pressure.
- Safety & Cleanliness: Uphold health and safety regulations, ensuring your station and the kitchen as a whole remain clean, organized, and compliant.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Sous Chef and Executive Chef to manage ticket times, expedite orders, and assist with menu specials or seasonal offerings.
- Shift Oversight: Take charge in the Executive Chef's absence, ensuring consistency and continuity in kitchen operations.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, with some leadership or advanced cooking responsibilities.
- Proficiency in multiple cooking techniques and a strong understanding of kitchen operations.
- Excellent communication and team-building skills, with a positive and proactive attitude.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Culinary degree or equivalent training is a plus but not required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in high-temperature environments and with sharp or heavy equipment.
