PE Instructor for one or more of the following PE classes offered by the department: Aquatics, fitness, weight room, team sports, individual sports, yoga, stretching, running and conditioning.
Job Duties
Unless otherwise assigned at the sole discretion of the District, the incumbent in this position is required to teach and to coach each semester.
Coaching:
1. Intercollegiate coaching for Women’s Badminton and Basketball
2. Possess valid driver’s license to drive Team Vans to and from games/meets.
3. Knowledgeable of the National Collegiate Athletics Association ( NCAA ) and
California Community College Athletic Association ( CCCAA ) guidelines concerning eligibility recruitment and participation.
4. Monitor the academic progress of each athlete. Assist with study hall supervision.
5. Report to the Department Chair and athletic director.
6. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Instructor:
1. Instruct one or more of the following Physical Education courses offered by the Department:
Racquet sports, aquatics, fitness, martial arts, team sports, individual sports, or dance.
2. Perform duties associated with instruction and assessing student progress which include but are not limited to: grading, assessing student learning outcomes, keeping required attendance records and supervising activities so that they follow departmental guidelines.
3. Teach in-person day, evening, and/or weekend classes at one or more sites as required.
4. Participate in various departmental activities and responsibilities, e.g. serve on various department and campus committees as needed.
5. Perform duties associated with instructing students and assessing their progress in relation to identified student learning outcomes.
6. Participates in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism to center pedagogy.
7. Supports and engages in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).
Applicants must be qualified to teach and coach.
INSTRUCTOR : Earned Master’s Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Education with an emphasis in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Physiology of Exercise, or Adaptive Physical Education from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT ; OR Earned Bachelor’s degree in any of the above from an accredited institution AND earned Master’s Degree in any Life Science, Dance, Physiology, Health education, Recreation Administration, or Physical Therapy from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT ; OR Hold a fully-satisfied LIFE California Community College Instructor Credential in Physical education (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990).
AND
COACHING :
Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience.

Coaching Qualifications:

4. Demonstrated commitment to improving instruction and athlete assessment methodologies through professional development.

7. Possess current coaching certifications, diplomas and/or licenses from sporting governing body.

2. Demonstrated ability to work professionally and effectively with colleagues and students.
