Job Description
Title:BUILDING ASSISTANT/INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE
Reports To:Principal
Job Objectives:
Instructs students and facilitates their learning in the absence of the regular teacher. Supports student learning in the academic classroom; often providing group or one-on-one instructional assistance under the direct supervision of the qualified teacher.
Minimum
Qualifications:
· Valid Ohio teacher’s license or certificate appropriate for the assignment.
· Minimum of two years experience.
· Documented evidence of a clear criminal record.
Responsibilities
and Essential
Functions:

Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
•Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
•Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
•Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.
•Maintains a professional appearance as an example to students.
•Leads special programs throughout the school year.
•Supervises cafeteria as needed,
•Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal.
•Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
•Maintains reasonable rules of conduct, which encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
•Communicates effectively with parents when needed.
•Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
•Supports the instruction of reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science to students in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities.
•Aides to instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter.
•Carries out lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and
small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
•Uses a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.
•Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
•Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
•Helps to evaluate students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and helps to prepare progress reports.
•If needed, communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program.
•Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
•Aides to create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
•Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by professional growth activities.
•Completes other duties as assigned.

Conditions:

Salary : $30,000 - $34,000
